Our story dates to 1896, when Samuel Goldberg began making slippers in a tiny three-person shop in New York City’s lower East Side. After 125 years and over 1 billion slippers, we continue Samuel’s legacy and passion… toward our People, our Partners and our Product.

S. Goldberg & Co is born in the basement of a private home in NYC with three employees.
American singer and actor Roy Rogers is signed to an exclusive license to use his image and likeness on footwear, making licensing history as the first company to sign a footwear licensing deal.
Bernie Leifer joins the company. Three years later he becomes President and CEO. Thus begins a 30 year span where the company grows more than five times under his leadership.
The company forges early international partnerships and begins importing footwear from Asia in order to complement its domestic slipper business.
The company debuts SGI Apparel – a division devoted exclusively to the design, sale and distribution of sleepwear.
SG initiates a multi-year strategy, creating an ecosystem at the leading edge of e-commerce sales and capabilities.
